EFIL plastic surgery center, a leading medical tourism agency in Daegu, is receiving attention for achieving the re-accreditation of JCI (Joint Commission International). In 2016, it became the first plastic surgery center in Daegu and North Gyeongsang Province and the third in Korea. On top of that, EFIL plastic center has recently gained re-certification of JCI, which catches the eyes. Especially, it has become even more controversial as it is known to be the only plastic center in Korea to achieve re-certification. JCI is known as a credible international medical institution evaluation organization in partnership with the WHO(the World Health Organization) working together to ensure patient safety and assess medical services. It is a medical assessment that must pass a re-accreditation every three years to maintain accreditation. The board members and JCI conductors were taking pictures to celebrate re-accreditation right after the re-certification evaluation on July 1^st. EFIL plastic center underwent an examination on site for a total of three days from June 28th to July 1^st. During the period, the JCI conductor assessed the overall process of patients from receiving medical treatment to returning home. Specipically, more than 1,000 investigation items were conducted, including the medical system, patient follow-up, medical records check, infection control, medication and medical equipment management, facility inspection and disaster safety management. In particular, the review on whether the patient safety related system was maintained and managed well for three years after first certification in 2016, was also conducted. According to the review, EFIL plastic center has met JCI criteria in the quality of medical care and patient safety management system enough to gain re-certification. This means that not only is EFIL’s medical environment at the international level but also EFIL has been recognized once again. Dr. Peter said, “While preparing for re-certification, all the staff members worked to ensure patient safety, which led to the establishment of a higher-quality medical system.” and also said “I will continue to strive to become a world-standard medical institution by putting safe medical care first."
